Heroin

Afghanistan is the leader in supplying the world with heroin. Heroin is “cut” several times before reaching our streets. This means products are added to the heroin to increase the money made by the dealer. Cutting products include brick dust, glass, floor cleaner, sugar icing. Heroin users are never sure what the purity of their heroin actually is by the time it gets to them.

Black Tar Heroin comes from Mexico and use is on the rise. It is sticky like roofing tar or hard like coal. It is diluted, dissolved and injected.

Symptoms of heroin use:

  • Pinpoint pupils that do not respond to light

  • lethargy

  • drowsiness

  • slurred speech

  • shallow breathing

  • sweating

  • vomiting

  • drop in body temperature

  • loss of appetite

  • lower heart rate and blood pressure

  • decreased sexual drive

Heroin is usually injected, sniffed/snorted or smoked. Injection is the predominant method of heroin use which leads to the current increase in HIV, Hepatitis C, and other infectious diseases.
